The Animal Husbandry project (2003-2010) aims at securing the basic nutrition needs and at increasing the local households’ income through a proper management of animals. Beneficiaries have been supplied with chickens, goats, ducks, sheep or pigs. They have also been trained in animal management (vaccination, marketing, veterinary services).

This programme has been able to:

• Involve 4500 families over 50 villages
• 3645 goats, 2625 sheep, 130 pigs and 30540 chicks were distributed, which will be paid back if and when there is surplus.
• Provide training, vaccination & supervision in collaboration with the local government
• Register a 80% drop in mortality of the animals in the project area
• Increase the family income by Rs. 500- 1000 per month per family and consumption
